A connoisseur of beauty in all its forms, Mel Dennis has long harbored a profound passion for design, which guided her to Philadelphia University, where she pursued studies in Interior Design & Fashion Merchandising.
Among her most acclaimed work is her design of
The Willows at Ashcombe Mansion, a project spanning over four to five years. Through her visionary approach, Mel transformed the venue into a bespoke masterpiece, incorporating whimsical touches with custom lighting, furnishings, rugs, and window treatments. She curated one-of-a-kind wallpapers and meticulously crafted branded furnishings, pillows, and valances showcasing the venue's logo, making this project a true highlight of her career.
Mel's design philosophy is distinguished by her commitment to understanding her clients on an intimate level. Her interactions are nothing short of enchanting, as her fervor and joy as a designer infuse each meeting with a unique vibrancy. Mel meticulously listens to her clients' needs, crafting spaces that are not only functional but also infused with inventive elements that defy convention and surprise. With a particular affection for historical homes and neutral palettes, she expertly weaves in rich, deep hues and textures to evoke sensory delight. Eschewing traditional design rules, Mel is known for her bold choices - incorporating oversized lighting, saturating rooms with deep colors, and experimenting with colors, patterns, and textures to cultivate a distinctive ambiance. The flow between spaces is paramount to her, ensuring a harmonious transition from one room to the next. Her profound love for design is evident in her dedication to realizing each client's grandest design aspirations with unparalleled enthusiasm.
Beyond her passion for design, Mel's greatest source of joy comes from spending cherished moments with her husband, daughter, and loved ones. She has a profound love for animals, and her family recently experienced the loss of their 15-year old puggle. Though deeply missed, they look forward to welcoming a new dog and cat into their home soon - perhaps a future mascot for HOUSE OF GILD! Mel's nurturing spirit and devotion to family and animals mirror the warmth and care she brings to her design work, creating spaces that are as meaningful as they are beautiful.
